Icefall Lodge

Dave was recently fortunate enough to escape for a week of backcountry skiing at Icefall Lodge. Icefall Lodge is located near the Lylle Range, a 15 minute helicopter ride north of Golden, BC.

The group was treated to a week of bluebird skies and fantastic skiing.

Wish I could have gone!

On A Roll

The kijiji gods have been shining in our favour lately!

Shortly after we scored the wool Afghan runner for the hall, I scooped up this antique wooden office chair for $40.

It is in pretty rough shape but I have big plans for it...

PS We have taken the first steps of crossing "eat strictly paleo for 30 days" off our 30 before 30 list and started a 30 Day Paleo Challenge

Sunny Sunday

After snowy, rainy, cold week, the weather turned in time to bless us with a warm sunny weekend. Sunday the temperature hit 23 C so we headed out to Kananaskis for the first hike of the season.

Office Progress

Yes I said progress. I know things have been slow around here. Life and our real jobs have been getting in the way.

But we have made some progress on the office recently.

Dave was able to pick up the bases for the built in desk before he took off for a week of backcountry skiing. I got the pleasure of staying at home to start painting it.

Dave has also been plucking away at the custom floating shelves that go over the desk. There will eventually be three.

However I am not convinced that the current design will stand up to a full load of books.

Not like I know anything about structural load capacity or anything.

Just saying.

PS Just because it is impossible to take photos in our house with out someone getting in the way...

Kijiji Kilim

Since we came home from Nepal empty handed, we have been scouring kijiji for rugs for the main floor. Particularly a runner for the hallway to slow down the dogs as they come crashing down the stairs.

Dave spied a listing for a 3'6"x12' wool Afghan runner for $80. Even the perfect dimensions for our long hallway!

It does have some staining so Dave was able to talk the seller down to $40.

$40 for a wool rug straight from Afghanistan!

For $40 I could not have gotten a plastic rug from IKEA.

30 Before 30

Both Dave and I turn 30 this year. Yikes.

Inspired by several other bloggers (Daffofil DesignsMaking it LovelyStacie Edwards, Restored Style), I thought it would be a fun challenge if we each made a list of 30 things we want to complete before we turn thirty.

  30. Build and use my own backcountry equipment

As Dave has the disadvantage of turning thirty 64 days earlier and some of his list specifically needs to be completed during the fall, we have agreed that my birthday in October is the deadline for both of us.

We both wanted to put 'donate blood' on our lists - which I have pathetically never done - but our trip to Nepal and India prevents us from doing it for one year which means we can not donate until 6 weeks past our deadline... assuming we do not travel to another malaria zone in the meantime.

Wish us luck!

Tiny

540 square feet. Makes me *almost* want to downsize. Would be half as much cleaning...
